A total of 73 male fawns received radio collars, as did 45 yearlings and 86 adults of both sexes. A total of 135 of the deer also received ear tags.
DNR researcher Michael Watt said of the 37 known mortalities, 31 were capture-related, three because of wolves, one suspected to bobcat, one suspected as an illegal harvest (cut radio collar) and one unknown.
