Wind blew snow onto my face and hair as I waded through ankle deep snow on a mission to snap photos of geese and ducks last Sunday. I was in the midst of Caesar, the first major snowstorm of 2012 to hit northwest Wisconsin.
I stopped and took the wintry photos at Half Moon Lake in Eau Claire on my way to attending a Christmas harp ensemble performance at Chippewa Valley Museum in Carson Park.
By the end of the day churches, schools, and other organizations issued cancellation notices. But the young women of the harp ensemble and their instructor and families braved the storm.
Classical Christmas harp music played by six young women in long, flowing dresses, and their instructor created a cozy cocoon as the winds swirled snow outside.
[Three of the six young performers started harp this year. Representing schools in the area, two are in sixth grade, one is in eighth grade, one is a junior, and two are seniors.]
Alas, hours of rain is melting at least some of the snow today …
