This weekend is the Sauk Prairie 26th Bald Eagle Watching Weekend in Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. Friday night, January 18, at 7:00 pm is a live birds of prey show titled "Raptors in Wisconsin' which is a wonderful show of live rehabilitated birds of prey that you can see up close and learn about these birds. This show is put on by the University of Minnesota Raptor Center. This is a must see event!
Saturday, January 19, is a full day of activities for the entire family with children's events, an exhibit of the largest bird collection in the state, eagle watching bus tours, seminars on birding optics, the secrets of digiscope photography, a wine tasting at the Wollersheim Winery, a live rehabilitated eagle release, and much more.
This is one of the best winters for eagle watching with over 300 bald eagles counted last week by the Ferry Bluff Eagle Council volunteers. The Wisconsin DNR did an aerial survey recently from the Lower Wisconsin River to the Petenwell Dam and counted over 400 bald eagles. The weather should remain cold and concentrate the eagles close to the Sauk Prairie area. This is one of the best winters for eagles in over two decades.
This is a wonderful event for the entire family and the children will really enjoy themselves and have a great time. Be sure to bring your cameras! For more information contact; 1-800-683-2453 or go to www.ferrybluffeaglecouncil.org
