Watch and donate to a great cause as more than 400 individuals with some very brave teams make their Polar Plunge into Sunny Vale Lake at Sunny Vale Park on Saturday.

Event participants can register to take the Plunge or sign up as “Too Chicken to Plunge.” An area is roped off for spectators to watch as their friends get soaked in the icy water.

More than $34,000 has been raised online so far this year in the annual benefit for Special Olympics. Regional director of development Alyssa Matelski said the fundraising goal for this year is $112,000.

Plunging is from noon to 1:30 p.m. and teams can register for their jump time from 10 a.m to noon. Come and cheer on the Daily Herald team of Carolyn Tiry, Robert Mentzer and Tim Langton in team name, AP Stylin’.

Food and beverage sales will be going on during the event and Spicy Tie band will perform from 12:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
