The ice fishing season on Wisconsin's Lake Michigan harbors is drawing to a close so we decided to give it one more try this past weekend. Together with my buddy Andy Schutz of McFarland and I set out for one more run at the monster Brown Trout on Saturday and in the end ... we were not disappointed.

Saturday started out decent as we as we had a few bites shortly after day break, including a very heavy fish that Andy fought for a few minutes before the hook pulled free. By 10 a.m. we thought that might have been our only shot at a big fish as things slowed down considerably. Then, at noon, everything broke loose when I hooked into my personal best brown.

After a short but intense battle the 34" female brown came through the hole. The immense seeferellon strain brown had a huge head and was wide across the shoulders but had recently dropped her spawn. She ate a peach colored spawn sac in about 12' of water. After a few pictures she was released to fight again another day.
