Many of the shallow bays on the Madison chain are now filled with catfish as the water temps have risen into the upper 50s and low 60s. Over the course of the last week I've seen numerous 20-plus lbs. fish taken, including the 37.5", 26.5 lb monster I caught Saturday afternoon.

Taking other fisherman who have never caught the giant cats with has been a real pleasure for me as well. Yesterday Chris Luckman of Waunakee, WI landed a beautiful 32", 13.9 lber.

My catfishing trips will be most likely ending this week. Bass are moving into the shallows and I'll be focusing on them for the next few months. I've heard reports of numerous large bass being caught, both smallmouth and largemouth.
