Both smallmouth and largemouth bass are getting more active on the Madison chain. It appears that the spawn is ending and bigger fish are moving onto the flats to recover and start feeding again. I was able to pick up a beautiful 21", 5.05 lb female smallmouth this weekend working a 9-10' gravel flat. Jigging, drop-shotting, and leaches under floats are all producing nice fish.

White bass action is picking up on the chain, too. I talked with a group of guys at a launch on Sunday evening that caught 75 in about 3 1/2 hours.

Muskie action has been unusually slow but the warmer temps predicted for this week should get them going as well.
