While trying to catch a few walleyes trolling the weed edges last night it became very apparent that the white bass bite is crazy on Lake Mendota right now. The fish are not only on the weed edges but suspended off of them as well. I had a real hard time getting my crank baits through them to get down to the walleyes.

White bass make good table fair and can be really fun to catch on light lines. They're "chasers" ... meaning they love to chase darting, flashy lures like bright crank baits.

As you can see in the picture I did catch a few walleyes as well. The overall bite on Mendota is picking up as smallmouth, walleyes, and perch are all present in good numbers on the weed edges and some big pike suspending just off the edges.
