The Isthmus Paddle & Portage was held on Saturday, July 20. The event brought over 800 competitors together for this one-of-a-kind race in Madison.

The day began at James Madison Park where participants dropped their boats in preparation. Racers parked at Olin Park and were shuttled between the two parks by Nelsonís Bus Service. The race began with a 1.5-mile paddle on Lake Mendota, followed by a 1-mile portage across the isthmus through the Capitol Square to Law Park where they jumped into Lake Monona for the final 1.5-mile paddle to the finish line at Olin Park.

Spectators cheered on the racers along the course. Everyone met at Olin Park for the post-race celebration and the day was capped off with the presentation of medals to participants placing first through fifth in the various race categories.
