I fished all day on Saturday, Dec. 28 from about 7:30 a.m. until dark. I started out from the mouth with a few crappies and a couple of the 7-inch walleyes. I kept moving around south of the river and only found a few whites.
I started moving north and really got into the whitebass, but never marked much for walleyes. I kept drilling and searching almost to the east shore with nothing but whitebass.
I changed gears around 1 p.m. and went looking for perch.
I started up by Cowlings Bay and once I arrived and saw the parking lot full of people, I tried about 6 holes and left. I headed back south and found some good actions in about 10 feet of water.
I finished the night off there with 11 perch and 6 nice bluegills. I had quite a few lookers that wouldnt finalize the deal. Hole hopping was very effective. My best bait was a Checkai glow with purple size 14 with a crushed waxie. The whitebass and a couple of the crappies came on the pro series custom painted slender spoon in the 1/8 oz. gold sunrise craw.
I'm headed back out tomorrow before the cold front moves in. Tight Lines!
