The ice fishing bite for brown trout and steelhead has been slow but steady in Wisconsin's Lake Michigan harbors and tributaries.

Action seems to be best along the stretch from Two Rivers down though Sheboygan, with numbers of nice steelhead being caught in the rivers and marinas. The bite to the south has been slower, but some quality browns have been caught.

Spawn sacs, shiners, and small ice jigs tipped with wax worms have all been working. During the cold front conditions we've been facing on a regular basis this winter it is wise to down size everything from baits to line strength to hook size. Successful fisherman often catch fish because they've changed leader material to 4 lb test flourocarbon and hook sizes down to #10 octopus hooks.

Ice levels have been good, but ALWAYS be careful when fishing in areas with heavy currents as levels can change dramatically with a few feet.
