The end is in sight for the 2014 sturgeon spearing season.

A 90 percent trigger for adult females was tripped Wednesday, making Thursday the final day of the season.

Upriver Lakes closed sturgeon spearing for the season at 1 p.m. Monday.

Chiltonís John Skahen wonít be among those spearfishers hoping for a catch on the last day. He registered a 161-pound, 77.1-inch sturgeon at the Quinney Quencher.

Skahen was spearing 4 miles offshore from Quinney Quencher when he caught his fish.

The fish topped the previous largest fish, which weighed 155 pounds, speared by Brian King, of Fond du Lac on Monday.
