The first Ice School for Nurses was held over the weekend. This was an event geared to get nurses from the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, many of them first time anglers, out ice fishing for the day.

The one day event sponsored by Clam Outdoors, Provide, Coulee Region Adventures, Fishidy and Recycled Fish paired 12 nurses with eight professional anglers for hands-on demonstrations of fishing skills ranging on tip-up fishing, understanding how to read various types of sonars, drilling holes in the ice and how to set up shacks.

By the end of the event, participants were fishing and catching fish independently while laughing and sharing stories. Most importantly, some of the anglers planned on ice fishing again in the near future.
