Old World Wisconsin in Eagle invites visitors to 'Catch Wheel Fever!' next month. The historical site will offer visitors the chance to ride replica tricycles and bicycles around a track as well as opportunities to explore a vintage bicycle repair shop and learn cycling songs from the late 19th century.

There's also an opportunity to climb on a replica high-wheel bike and snap a photo. If I make it down to Eagle to try out one of these high bikes, I'll be thankful for my long legs!

A ten mile ride is also planned for later this summer.

Ride with the Wheelmen: A high-wheel bicycle gathering

Saturday, July 19
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (10:45 a.m. ride, 1:30 p.m. demonstrations)

Join the Wheelmen, a group of antique high-wheel bicycle enthusiasts, for a ten mile ride or watch their demonstrations of historic cycling skills. Old World Wisconsin admission allows you to watch while the group leads the ride, and/or to watch the special high-wheel bicycling demonstrations, which begin at 1:30 pm.

If you'd like to participate in the ten mile ride, bring your own bike and pedal through a portion of Old World Wisconsin and around the site on local roads. Registration for the ride includes a box lunch and museum admission.

Reservations for all riders are $35 for adults and $20 for children (up to age 17), and all revenue supports museum programming (no member discounts). Call 262-594-6301 to register or visit https://www.regonline.com/Register/Checkin.aspx?EventID=1561508.
